McDonald's reported a global comparable sales growth of 4.9% for the month of August. All segments reported an increase, but the Asian/Middle East/Africa segment definitely led the way:
U.S. up 4.6%
Europe up 2.2%
Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa up 7.8%

While Mickey D's is putting a positive spin on these numbers, and they do look good on the surface, those playing the market obviously do not agree as the stock price took a big hit closing at $74.37 which is down
-$1.71 (or -2.25%).

We'll get a better picture of the company when they post their 3rd quarter earnings which are expected to be released October 21st. Until then...
JUST FOR FUN:
Here's a TRIVIA QUESTION for you (correct answer will be given on my next post):
The original McDonald's opened in 1940 as a Drive-In. The first McDonald's to actually have indoor seating opened in 1962 in what U.S. city???
While out driving to Tulsa, Oklahoma a couple summers ago, we drove underneath the world's largest McDonalds. It is actually built overtop of the interstate... pretty cool if you ask me! Just thought I'd share that!
ReplyDeleteToo easy Tammy!! The first seated restaurant for McDonalds was in Denver. Did you know that they had a hula burger around the same time? Yeah, we had to learn such trivial nonsense when we went to Hamburger University for training.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct, Lucian!!! I did NOT know about the hula burger. Did you enjoy Hamburger U???
ReplyDeleteYeah, the history around it was amazing and the "classes" weren't hard but they want you to know goofy stuff - like french fries have to be stacked 6 cases high and 6 cases wide in each row and they can be no closer than 6 inches to any wall in the freezer. Goofy things like that....lol.
